Placer County

Located just east of Sacramento, Placer County begins at the edge of the central valley, reaching back through the gold country and mountainous peaks to Lake Tahoe. Its diversity in topography allows for endless recreational opportunities and neighborhood locales. Homes and communities range from bustling suburbs to historic towns that helped settle the West, but today see more mountain bikers and artists than cowboys and miners.

Southwestern Placer is anchored by Roseville, which offers extensive and upscale shopping opportunities. The adjacent Loomis, Lincoln, and Rocklin are all an easy commute to Sacramento and offer a seemingly inordinate number of family activities - golf, go-carts, fun centers, and swim complexes that continue to thrive and foster a community atmosphere. Slightly to the north lies the exclusive community of Granite Bay and its surrounding gated enclaves and neighborhoods.

The historic towns of Auburn and Newcastle are the gateways to the Sierra. Home to their own Old Towns, they also access some of the best trails and rivers in the West. Wander further east through mountains and there's an abundance of swimming holes, fishing spots, campgrounds, and backcountry excursions.

Follow Highway 80 east through the awe-inspiring Sierra Nevada to Placer County's most prized possessions, Squaw Valley U.S.A., Northstar-at-Tahoe, and Alpine Meadows ski areas.
