Yolo County

Located just west of Sacramento, Yolo County boasts all the perks of its extreme proximity to the capitol as well as being that much closer to the Bay Area. The rural county does boast its own appeal and amenities, however, and is home to Raley Stadium and the River Cats, U.C. Davis, its own wine country, and a plethora of agricultural and culinary offerings.

The county is comprised of bountiful farmland and fields surrounding quaint towns full of charm and history. Its main hubs include West Sacramento, Woodland, Winters, and Davis, home of the nation's best farmers markets and one of the top ten public universities in the U.S. The campus features the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts and a 100-acre arboretum. It's also rated number one in both veterinary medicine and agriculture.

Yolo County communities have retained their quaint and off-the-beaten path allure while simultaneously cultivating cultural and environmentally friendly ways of life. Bike paths were carefully planned to connect neighborhoods and towns and local farmers were the pioneers of the farm-to-fork movement. Food celebrations, farmers markets, and produce stands are commonplace throughout the county, while gourmet dining, wineries, and breweries are on the rise. On the art front there are numerous galleries, art walks, and theatre companies.

Both Interstate 80 and Highway 5 traverse Yolo County, giving residents easy access to San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and beyond.
